Dr. Michael Wierda is an Assistant in Extension focused on Pesticide Safety Education (PSE) based out of the Arizona Pest Management Center (APMC). Dr. Wierda earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from Clemson University where they used bald eagles as a tool to track legacy pollutants in Michigan’s aquatic ecosystems. Dr. Wierda’s #1 goal in PSE is for you; the applicator, manager, owner, technician, etc. to understand personal, family, community, and environmental health concerns related to pesticides. This includes but is not limited to how pesticides move, work, persist, and breakdown in you, your family/community, and the environment.
